DIY Lavender bath melts…

Do you ever see those bath adverts on TV and think “mmmm I’d love a relaxing bath” then remember you’re allergic to literally any bath product out there and have a little weep? ME TOO. Don’t worry though, I’ve got us covered. I make these lavender bath melts that are perfect for a relaxing soak and keeping the dry skin at bay so today I thought I’d share the recipe with you. Sharing is caring! Right let’s get started…

You will need:

  • A glass bowl.
  • A jug.
  • A metal spoon.
  • Silicon moulds (I use cupcake ones).
  • A pan of boiling water.
  • Shea butter.
  • Coconut oil.
  • Lavender essential oil.
  • Fresh lavender (optional).

The first step is to add 3 heaped tablespoons of shea butter and 3 heaped tablespoons of coconut oil to the glass bowl with the metal spoon. I use a metal spoon when using butters and oils because it’s way easier to clean. Then place the glass bowl on top of the boiling water and gently stir. Keep and eye on it because you don’t want it to over heat.

When it’s all melted add around 10-15 drops of the lavender oil and stir. Obviously, you can put as much essential oil in as you like but I always find 10-15 drops is enough to fragrance it without being overpowering and harsh on the skin.

Carfully pour the mixture into the jug and divide evenly into your silicone moulds. You can use any silicone moulds you like, I use these cupcake ones because I already had them and I like my bath melts to be a bit chunky. Give me all the moisturising goodness! Finish by adding a sprig of fresh lavender and pop in the freezer for 2-3 hours. Once completely hardened, keep in the fridge until you are ready to use one.

And that’s it! These melts smell amazing and the combination of the shea butter and coconut oil really moisturises the skin without any harsh chemicals. They make the bath feel so luxurious and the lavender makes sure you get a good nights sleep. I just love them! They would also make really nice gifts for any fellow eczema pals!

Be really careful when getting out of the bath when using coconut oil because that stuff is slippery! Remember that viral story of the girl that got stuck in the bath after using it…don’t let that be you! I wonder if she’s still in there…
